Firsts

So, I never wrote down some of the important firsts, and I regret that. I do know the first true smile was at about 5 weeks. I know my hair started falling out at 3 months. He started day care at 11 and a half weeks. When he started day care, he would not take the bottle (but he takes it now like a champ). He rolled over for the first time for my mom while I was in the kitchen making chicken tacos - that was on July 4th! He sat unassisted for the first time for my husband in the back yard on July 24th. I can't remember when he slept through the night for the first time, but I know it was a while ago and that he just doesn't do it anymore. Still waiting for the first tooth. The first cold was the end of the first week of day care, and the first ear infection followed shortly thereafter, along with many colds and ear infections, which come with the day care territory.

I also, terribly, do not remember the first day he had solid foods, but it was shortly before he turned 5 months, and it was rice cereal with breast milk. He has now had that, Gerber and homemade oatmeal, and in this order: sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, bananas, apples. Tonight, I think we will start either pears or peaches. I have Gerber peaches but pears to make homemade. I am off work today - taking a "me day" - so I will probably have time to make some baby food.
